The export of local currency is limited to A$2500; severe penalties can be incurred if this rule is infringed and the proper authority from the Bank of Nauru is not obtained. The following goods may be imported into Nauru by those over 16 years of age without incurring customs duty:
400 cigarettes or 50 cigars or 450g of tobacco; three bottles of alcoholic beverage (if visitor is over 21 years of age).

 
Prohibited items

Explosives, firearms and pornography, drugs and weapons, dangerous drugs, pornographic films and literature.

 
Restricted exports

Nauruan artefacts may not be exported without a licence.
